Submission received late March 2025
On Monday, March 24th at approximately 1 PM, a community member was approached in an educational building on the University of Pittsburgh’s campus by one uniformed Pitt Police officer and another person who identified herself as an FBI agent. The agent served the community member a subpoena to appear at a federal grand jury convening on April 22nd at 9:00 AM. The agent indicated that they wanted to ask the community member questions about a current federal defendant.
This incident follows other subpoena pertaining to the same grand jury issued in State College in December, and in Pittsburgh in January, February, and March as well as the seizures of multiple cell phones.
If you or anyone you know are contacted by federal agents or delivered a grand jury subpoena, do not answer any questions. Ask them for their card and tell them your lawyer may contact them. Call the National Lawyers Guild’s federal Repression hotline at 2126792811 and contact your local NLG chapter at pittsburgh@nlg.org.
