Situation
There is a federal grand jury sitting in Pittsburgh. At least two people have been subpoenaed to testify before it. This grand jury is at least partially focused on the criminal cases of MH and TL who were arrested earlier this year on charges related to alleged political action.
Both grand jury subpoenas have been preceded by search warrants and seizures of devices by federal agents.
What you can do
If you are visited by federal or state law enforcement, you do not have to talk to them. Do not let them inside your home. Take their card. Tell as many people as you can what happened.
If law enforcement officers seize your electronic devices or search your home with a warrant, tell everyone you know. Get in touch with a lawyer as soon as possible. If federal agents are involved, call your local federal public defender’s office.
If you receive a subpoena to a grand jury you have options. Some of those options include: resisting, cooperating, or negotiating. There are resources at the bottom of this post about approaches you can take. You will need a lawyer. And you will need community support. It’s really important to tell people that this is happening. Do not face this alone.
